ere is the announcement of the GFS fundraiser for the Fitzgerald
family, whose house was destroyed in a gas explosion, that went
out on our Members and Interest mailing lists.
The Groton Film Society committee has decided to dedicate its January 5th screening to a fundraiser to benefit the victims of the house explosion on Willowdale Road, local firefighter David Fitzgerald and his wife Valerie. All proceeds will be turned over to the Fitzgerald Fire Fund.
We will be screening "Frequency": a film by Gregory Hoblit (rated PG-13) that weaves together the themes of a heroic firefighter, the love between father and son, time travel, and a murder mystery.
The screening will take place in the newly renovated, 500-seat Performing Arts Center at Lawrence Academy. Doors open at 6:30 and the film begins at 7:00. Ample parking is available off of Lowell Road (Rte. 40).
The film will be free and open to the public. Donations to the Fitzgerald Fire Fund are strongly encouraged (cash or check only, please).
The previously scheduled film, The Lives of Others, will instead be shown on Saturday February 2.
This fundraiser is in addition to GFS's normal schedule, so all members will have their span of membership extended by one month.
